• The Western Carolina Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and the Land-of-Sky Area Agency on Aging are offering two meetings for any-
one concerned with memory loss in themselves or a loved one. Te first meeting is 9 am to 11:30 am on Tuesday (April 13). Te second
is from 6 pm to 8:30 pm on April 15. Both will be held at the Marshall Community Center. To register for either of these workshops, contact Christina at 828-251-6622 or Pat at 645-9189 • “Living Healthy with Early Memory Loss” is a free, six-week work-
shop that is designed to help individuals better manage early memory loss and live a happier, healthier life. Meetings begin at 10 am on April 9 and will continue each Friday through May 14. To register, contact Rebecca or Christina at 828-251-6622. • The Madison County Alzheimer’s Support Group meets at 6 pm on
the last Tuesday of every month at Madison Manor Nursing Center. Tis group is for family or friends of anyone living with any type of dementia. For more information, call Pat at 645-9189.
Gala, silent auction Weaverville PTO Gala & Silent Auction, a fundraising event for
parents and other adult friends of the Weaverville Primary and El- ementary schools, will take place at 7 pm on April 16 at Te Fields at Blackberry Cove. Tere will be have hors d’oeuvres, a cash beer & wine bar provided by Maggie B’s, live entertainment and a silent auction. Te silent auction will feature items such as works of art donated by
local artists, weekend getaways, private knitting lessons, special offer- ings from many of our teachers, and themed gift baskets created by school children and families. Funds raised at this event will support Weaverville Primary and El-
ementary schools. Tickets to the event are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Tickets may be purchased until April 9 at Maggie B’s, Shop Around the Corner, and Weaverville Primary School. ‘Evening of Music’ rescheduled
“An Evening of Music” benefit
concert for the North Buncombe Music Scholarship has been re- scheduled to begin at 7 pm on Friday (April 9) at First Baptist Church Weaverville. Pastor Jim McCoy, the Rev. Wendell Brit- tain and Paston Hank Jackson will provide guitar, vocal, piano and accordion selections with additional guest performances by previous scholarship winners. Peggy Plemmons Harvey Weaverville - Peggy Harvey, 59
of Weaverville passed away on Friday, April 2, 2010. A native of Buncombe County,
she was the daughter of the late Edith Hensley Plemmons and James Plemmons. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Ray and Ernest Plemmons. Surviving are a son, Christo-
pher Harvey; a daughter, Brandy Harvey; and much loved grand- children, Jessie and Clover Har- vey; sister, Mary Ellen Wood and brothers, Hal, Rex and Ron Plem- mons. A memorial service for family
and close friends was led by Rev. Mike Woodard at Elk Mountain Baptist Church at 1 pm on Mon- day, April 5, 2010. Special thanks to the doctors at

Grant Herron Asheville - Grant Herron, age
66, of Old Leicester Hwy., died Sunday, April 4, 2010. Mr. Herron was born October
24, 1943, in Buncombe County. He was a retired truck driver and bulldozer operator. He also deliv- ered the Asheville Citizen-Times. Grant enjoyed spending time on the ball field with his grandchil- dren and talking with anyone he met. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil F. and Willie Buckner Herron. Surviving are his wife of 46 years
Polly Hoglen Herron; daughter Debbie Rhodarmer of Leicester; son David Herron of Henderson- ville; sisters, Carrie Ann Morgan and Edna Briggs, both of Leices- ter; grandchildren, Jesse Rhod- armer and Derick Morgan. His graveside service will be
held at 11 am on Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, with Craig Roberts of- ficiating. The family received friends
