What we stand for… Our Commitment is to offer:

 a broad, exciting curriculum that enables each individual to become an effective learner who can go on to realise their ambitions;

 the specialisms of Technology and Science, and the themes of Marine and Environment being central to the curriculum and students’ learning;

 an inclusive learning culture that values and respects all people equally, where diversity is seen as a rich source of learning and all demonstrate tolerance and mutual respect;

 an environment in which we are

constantly identifying and developing the talents that all people possess;

 a culture in identifying and providing the best opportunities and facilities, to enable our young people to become successful students.

4 To achieve this:

 the Academy will be at the heart of our community;

 students and staff will feel they belong. We will work to establish the highest standards of behaviour and achievement;

 studentsʼ safety, security and well- being will be paramount.

What is an Academy?

An Academy is a state funded school which is independent of the Local Authority and is set up by a sponsor or sponsors and run by an independent Governing Body.

Like Local Authority schools, Academies provide a free education for pupils of all abilities and are inspected by Ofsted. Each Academy specialises in one or more areas of the curriculum. Marine Academy Plymouth’s specialisms are in Technology and Science with a focus on the Marine Environment. The Academy will continue to work in partnership with Plymouth’s schools.
