WEDGWOOD EN MASS
CERAMICS will, as usual, be a strong feature of Skinner’s European decorative arts and furniture sale on July 10. It’s no surprise to see a substantial Wedgwood property in there, in this case that of Joe Skirchak and Pat Cerra who have been collecting Wedgwood for the past 30 years and dealing in it since 1984.
Running to approximately 350 lots, this offering encompasses the full breadth of Wedgwood’s manufacture, from jasperware to 19th and 20th century artist- decorated pieces including works by Emile Lessore, Thomas Allen, Alan Best, John Skeaping, Ernest Light, Keith Murray, Arnold Machin, Norman Wilson, Harry Sheldon, Peter Wall, Louise Powell and the ever popular Fairyland lustre creations of Daisy Makeig- Jones.
These will be complemented by ceramics from other factories, notably reticulated Royal Worcester wares, Belleek and Royal Doulton.
in (37cm) high pearlware vases from c.1875 painted by John Holloway with marine scapes. Illustrated in Robin Reilly’s book Wedgwood, they are estimated at $5000-7000.
