S

ummer is here and hopefully all of you are get- ting a chance to get outside with your families and pets to enjoy this gorgeous weather! Our fo-

cus this month is on Lyme disease, which is something we should all be concerned about as we spend more time outside.

Dr. Tom Moorcroft writes a timely article about Lyme disease and how it affects

children. Many children develop sleep problems as well as GI disorders and psycho- logical symptoms. And Ayelet Connell-Giammatteo teaches us about Integrative Manual Therapy as a treatment program for Lyme disease. As Lyme disease is growing in inci- dence, there are many other immune illnesses that are manifesting in our communities today as well.

Dr. Desmond Ebanks educates us on “male menopause”, otherwise known as an-

dropause and the great debate about whether men go though a psychological and physi- ological change that is similar to menopause in women. Many doctors use the term an- dropause to describe the age-related hormone changes in men. And Bernie Siegel, MD teaches us to speak up and become a problem patient, so that we become identified as a person and not by a room number or disease. Thus, we will be far less likely to have a fatal or non-fatal medical error while being cared for.
