At last music lessons that your child will want to do

Clive’s Easylearn Rock & Pop Schools, the largest rock school network in the UK has now come to Lancashire, with outlets in Preston, St.Annes and Cleveleys. Clive’s gives children the chance to learn guitar, drums, bass or keyboards and jam in bands from their very first session. Music making becomes simple, fun and direct with our Easylearn courses and gets children on stage in no time playing songs by their favourite artists like Green Day, Robbie Williams, Snow Patrol, Guns & Roses and many more.

May sees the opening of another exciting new outlet in Lancaster, based at the Royal Grammar School. To arrange a FREE taster session on our opening night or at any of our Lancashire schools either click onto our website: www.clivesmusic.com or phone 07540 529716 You never know, it may be your first step to stardom!

The Lancaster Unlocked Festival will return for its third year at the end of the month. The Lancaster Unlocked Festival attracts visitors from across the region and inspires locals to take a peak at venues they so often take for granted.

Usually held just after the Heritage Open Days in September, Lancaster Unlocked has a new home from May 29th through to the 31st with its latest offering ‘Festival of Childhood’. This year invites you to reminisce, relive and enjoy the memories of childhood across the years.

Venues across the city work incredibly hard as a unit to produce good quality programming across the weekend and are delighted to be joined by more and more venues and businesses as the momentum of Lancaster Unlocked unfolds.

The city is filled with a thrilling history that spans hundreds of years. Every year the festival offers a different a different perspective, each venue exploring and exposing the deep heritage of Lancaster. This year is no different, from the museums to theatres, castles to coffee shops, cathedrals to libraries and the whole weekend kicks off when the city centre and markets will be transformed into traditional street stalls with fun & games, both old and new, including a very popular Teddy Bears Picnic.

‘Families will be at the centre of excellent

integrated services that put their needs first’

(Ed Balls Secretary of State for Children Schools and Families in the Children’s Plan 2008)

Lancashire's Sure Start Early Years and Childcare Service acknowledge that giving birth to a healthy, happy baby should be one of the most rewarding experiences of a person's lifetime and we aim to make this a reality regardless of background. We know that high quality care throughout maternity and beyond can have a significant impact on health, development and life outcomes for both children and parents. Moreover, pregnancy provides an opportune time to deliver additional support when parents are more receptive to learning and making lifestyle changes. Place this in the context of Government drivers to promote excellence in maternity care and it becomes clear why we have chosen to develop an innovative package of ante natal education delivered in a flexible way through Lancashire's children's centres.

Lancashire is leading the way on early intervention and is committed to reducing health inequalities and ultimately impacting on infant mortality. 'From Bump to Birth and Beyond' was developed in response to the highlighted need for a flexible, family focused approach to maternity care, with particular attention to meeting the needs of the most vulnerable families within our communities and offering additional support to those who need it. The programme is also designed to engage fathers as strong evidence shows that early involvement of fathers has significant benefits for children’s social and emotional wellbeing.

Lancashire County Council believe giving children the best start means engaging mothers and fathers early in pregnancy, empowering them to become healthy and confident parents who understand and relish the challenges facing them. Encouraging parents to access the children's centres early will allow them to forge long lasting and supportive relationships with staff who will be on hand from bump to birth and beyond.
