Short breaks give the main carer a break from their caring role and the child a positive and different experience and the chance to make new friends:
All activities are free at present They are available at a venue near you
They are additional to any other support your family receives
Activity details are available from the website below or your local Carers’Centre.
To book your child onto a short break just ring the activity provider direct - there is no need for a formal assessment.

Rufford Old Hall The garden team at Rufford Old Hall are on the lookout for green fingers this half term. Seeds, pots and compost will be available for children to plant their own vegetable, learn how to cultivate it, then take it home and watch it grow. Free to take part. BIKEABILITY
Salt Ayre Sports Centre, Lancaster “Cycling Proficiency for the 21st Century” Cycling is healthy and fun but it’s best to learn how to do it safely, which is why thousands of children across England have already taken part in Bikeability. For ages 9-16. The course takes place at the sports centre & on local roads - bring a roadworthy bike and outdoor clothing. 10am-12noon or 1pm-3pm daily; all 4 days must be attended. £6. LEARN TO CYCLE
Salt Ayre Sports Centre, Lancaster For children aged 4+ who use stabilisers and/or cannot yet ride. Pedals & stabilisers will be removed so that children learn to balance. Under-8s must be accompanied by an adult, and adults may be asked to assist. Please bring a roadworthy bike which allows the seat to be lowered sufficiently for the child to get their feet flat on the ground, & outdoor clothing. 10am-12noon or 1pm-3pm. £6. Tel: 01524 842493
