nearby. The Penticton area beaches are excellent for windsurfing as there is usually a brisk breeze most days of the year.
For boat rentals at this end of the lake, check out Pier Water Sports on Martin Street and Castaways Watersports, located at the Penticton Lakeside Resort. Between the two they have pretty much every water craft imaginable. Kayaks, paddleboats, sea doos, party boats, fishing boats and ski and wake boats are available for rental here. They also teach water skiing, wake boarding and bare-footing and you can try your hand at parasailing fly high above Lake Okanagan.
Travelling up the other side of Lake Okanagan from Penticton you will come to the quaint town of Naramata. Well known for its wines (as is the
entire Okanagan), Naramata is home to Manitou Park and Beach, a family oriented beach with picnic tables, ball fields and a volleyball court conveniently located right next to the Naramata Yacht Club. You may want to check to ensure you can park your boat there. Another great area is the
Naramata Wharf Park located on the original site of the Old Dock at Mill Bay. Wharf Park has a beautiful walkway that has easy access to the local museum, the lake, and the Naramata Heritage Inn & Spa. The views here of Mill Bay and Okanagan Lake are well worth the trip, not to mention the wine tasting, the pampering and the great food.
Travelling by boat up the Naramata side of the lake you will come across Rattlesnake Island, located directly across from Peachland. The area surrounding the island forms part of Okanagan Mountain Park. It is here where you may spot Ogopogo as his cave is reportedly located nearby. Many an explorer has set foot on Rattlesnake Island and thought they had discovered ancient ruins. In reality what they

find is the remains of a 1970’s tourist attraction, complete with a mini-golf course with a replica of the Great Pyramid at Giza and a giant camel. The attraction was shut down shortly after it opened. In 2003, a lightning strike near the island started the Okanagan Mountain Park Fire. A huge portion of land was burned; however, the island remained unscorched, perhaps protected by Ogopogo himself.
It is not recommended that you take your boat between the island and the shore as the channel is quite shallow. The island has a small bay on the south side where you can take refuge if needed.
Naramata is the last stop before Kelowna on this side of the lake. When travelling by land, there is a logging road that will take you into Kelowna; however, it is single lane in most places and not built for your average car. For
