Building for Schools with Zehnder

Zehnder, one of Europe’s leading indoor climate solution providers will be exhibiting their full range of products for schools at BSEC 2010. Understanding the requirements of the government’s BSF initiative Zehnder’s unrivalled range of heating, cooling and air filtration products ensure they have a complete heating and ventilating solution for all BSF projects. The range comprises of; low surface temperature and panel radiators for standard classroom use; a series of radiant heating and cooling panels which offer an energy efficient, all-in-one package for summer and winter operation in classrooms and sports halls; and the Zehnder Clean Air Solutions system which helps create a clean and healthy environment for woodwork classrooms. Zehnder will also be launching their latest new products at the show, both of which are joint ventures with leading manufacturers. The first, a partnership with Whitecroft lighting, sees the launch of the ‘foil’, an integrated heating, lighting, acoustics and classroom services ceiling raft. Unique in design, this revolutionary panel meets both the technical and aesthetic demands of modern building. The second, a collaboration with Tek Ltd, brings natural ventilation to the classroom. Improving concentration levels and reducing absenteeism the Natural Ventilation System offers maximum control and flexibility over a room’s comfort level.

range combines heat recovery ventilation with heat pump technology to harness energy from outgoing air. Heating, ventilation and cooling (on hot summer days) is provided. All from one appliance, compact enough for a loft space. The efficiency is outstanding; the appliance generates as much as six times the heat energy, as the power it consumes. It can take outside air of –1°C and convert this to an incoming air temperature of 34°C. With underfloor heating in the wet rooms and a wood burning stove in the living area, the Genvex system can be the only substantial heat source required. For more information see www.totalhome.co.uk

New Iconic and Innovatively Designed Wall Mounted Indoor Air Conditioning Unit from Daikin

Daikin Europe NV has introduced a new wall mounted indoor air conditioning unit for the residential sector. Known as the ‘Emura’, the new unit is the successful outcome of an in depth independent design programme aimed at achieving a balance between form and function. Stylish and strikingly attractive with an ultra thin profile and elegantly finished in matt crystal white or sandblasted aluminium, Daikin Emura, designed in Europe for the European climate, is destined to become the precursor of a new era in the design of air conditioning systems. It is also highly energy efficient with an EER of up to 4.46 (energy label ‘A’). Available in three classes with capacities from 2.5 to 5.0kW, Emura offers low noise operation with a minimum sound pressure rating of 22dBA. Based on well proven Daikin inverter technology, Emura uses R-410A refrigerant and has a wide operating range of -10 to 460C (cooling) and - 15 to 200C (heating). A 24 hour programmable infra red remote control with a weekly schedule timer ensures maximum operational flexibility and total user comfort throughout the year. The Daikin Emura represents a remarkable blend of high energy efficiency and iconic and elegant good looks that will enhance any room décor. As a split, it can be combined with its matched outdoor unit on a one-to-one basis or in multiple room applications of up to nine indoor units to one outdoor unit.

Passivent Launches New Options to Further Enhance Energy Efficiency

New developments which not only maximize the energy efficiency of natural ventilation-based systems, but which allow performance verification, are being unveiled by Passivent Ltd. The company, which is a leading force in its sector, will be using its stand – 1844 - at Ecobuild as the first public showing of its new Thermal Aircool system, and Airscoop Builder software tool. The new developments add further dimensions to Passivent’s established natural ventilation strategies, which are already proven in ‘real life’ to contribute towards an Energy Performance Certificate A rating, by harnessing atmospheric air movement to ensure a fresh, damp-free internal environment with minimal energy consumption. Passivent ventilation reduces energy consumption over air conditioned buildings by up to 50 %, yield 15 % savings on capital costs, 75 % savings on maintenance costs, and eliminate the need for a separate plant room: in one installation the Passivent system is being calculated at reducing energy demand by up to 80 %!
