Mrs. Long was

born on Aug. 28, 1927 in Conway, Ark., to Ethridge Hugh and Louise McFarlin. She re- ceived her educa- tion in the Little Rock, Ark. public schools and gradu- ated from Dunbar High.

Oscar B. Denson and the family moved to Detroit in 1958. Mrs. Long spent her life and

She was em-

ployed for 52 years with the Veteran’s Administ rat ion hospitals.

Julia M Willis

held for Julia M. Willis, Feb. 23 at Friendship Bap- tist Church with Dr. Samuel White III officiating. Mrs. Willis, 93, died Feb. 17.

She was born

Dec. 20, 1916 in Bo- swick, GA. She was educated in Dayton and Detroit.

She married the

late Cornell Willis in 1936.

Mrs. Willis was a

former member of Warren Ave. Baptist Church, and was an active member of the Bridgettes

Social Club, serv- ing as president for several years. She also loved to travel; was an avid cook, specializing in sweet potato

pie and pineapple cake.

She is survived

by her daughter, Barbara Scott; son, Rufus Willis; grand- children, Kevin Scott,

Jackson, Rev. Law- rence Scott, Antho- ny Willis, Rosalynn Childs, Gary Willis, and Rodney Willis; 13 great grand- children;

Larry Jones

Services were

held for Larry Jones Feb. 19 at Mt. Hebron Mission- ary Baptist Church with Pastor Samp- son Matthews offi- ciating. Mr. Jones, 59, died Feb. 12.

He was born May

7, 1950 in Nash- wille, N.C., and came to Detroit in 1959. He was edu- cated in the Detroit Public

Schools

System and at- tended Northwest- ern High School. He was excellent in math, and tutored students in alge- bra, calculus and other math cours- es. He received many awards and made a host of life- time friends.

He attended

Wayne County and Henry Ford Com- munity Colleges, where he devel-

oped a skill for

wood carving. His works have earned honorable mention in art shows and exhibits. Carving was a way of life, and his collection exceeded 200 wood creations.

He was em-

ployed at Chrysler Corp. for 33 years, retiring in 2002. He worked at mul- tiple plants and

job tasks. He was a skilled tradesman and welder equip- ment repairer and UAW local 1264 member.

In addition to

wood carving, he loved gardening, fishing and travel- ing with his family.

BIDS – The City of Detroit, Michigan will receive sealed Bids for the work delivered to the Detroit Finance Department, Purchas- ing Division, Rm. #1008 Coleman A. Young Municipal Center, Two Woodward Avenue, Detroit, Michigan 48226, until 2:00 P.M., local time, on Thursday, May 6, 2010, when all Bids duly received will be opened publicly and read aloud. Prior to arriving at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center, proposers should review the Security Memo contained in Section 00325 from the Purchasing Division.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION – The Work, “Equipment Purchase and Installation on As-Needed Basis”, Contract No. PC-778 includes, but is not necessarily limited to furnishing the skilled labor, work- ing foremen and overall supervision required to complete major and minor skilled trades maintenance projects as well as special- ized subcontractual maintenance services on an as required basis at the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations, Group Facilities, CSO Facilities, Wastewater Treatment Plant, Industrial Waste Control Facilities, and all other DWSD facilities related directly or indirectly to the Wastewater Treatment Plant as detailed in Exhibit A, General Description of Work and Project in the Agreement. The successful Bidder may also be required to (a) furnish materi- als, as yet unspecified, (b) provide on a lease or rental basis the usage of heavy construction equipment and vehicles, (c) secure the services of various specialty subcontractors, and (d) provide machine shop support services.
