The Coast Guard is modernizing its HH-60J Jayhawk Helicopters resulting in an upgrade and re-designation to the MH- 60T. The fleet of 42 Jayhawks was built by Sikorsky as a variant of their H-60 line. H-60s are used extensively in the United States Military and operate from land and

sea based locations around the world. The Coast Guard accepted the HH-60J in the early 1990’s to replace the aging HH-3F Pelican, which was also a Sikorsky heli- copter. The Jayhawk is flown by the Coast Guard on both the east and west coasts and is used extensively in Alaska.

Operational Jayhawk units are located at Coast Guard Air Stations in Cape Cod, MA, Elizabeth City, NC, Clearwater, FL, San Diego, CA, Astoria, OR and Kodiak and Sitka, AK. Additionally, there are several Jayhawks at the Coast Guard Avi- ation Training Center in Mobile, AL. In
