Wallace Wade. Below is the 1931 Weaverville High School Basketball team, which won
the conference championship. Front row, from left to right: Howard Jones, Sherwood
Thompson and Joe Maney. Back row, from left to right: Coach McHenry, Raymond
Holcombe, Bill Rhea, Morris Heron, Tate Lyda, Brad Brank and Lamar Burton. Both
pictures were taken near the high school on South Main Street, which opened in 1928
and served the area in a variety of capacities before being demolished in 1997. Reems
Creek resident Paul Brank provided the Tribune with these images.
