INDULGENCES outrageous by daisy torres
Cupid’s arrows seem to be flying all around me but none of them seem
to be aimed my way. What’s a single girl gotta do to get shot around here?
Where are all the nice single guys out there? Come on cupid, show a girl
some love! If you’re already taken, then take your boyfriend or girlfriend out
for a romantic dinner and a show, then go home and unwrap your partner’s
clothes and do whatever comes natural. On the other hand, if you’re single,
get off the sofa and meet somebody so you will have a valentine next year.
Aside from hunting for a man, I have plenty of other events on my plate to
keep me all busy in February. Grab your Motorola Droid or iPhone and enter
these events into your social calender:
The main event this month is Hillcrest Mardi Gras on February 16, also
known as Fat Tuesday. University Ave. will be closed down between 1rst
and 4th Avenue as the street is transformed into a frenzy of entertainment,
beads and drinking. Mardi Gras is kind of like “show and tell” all grown up.
You tell someone you want their beads and then show them what they want
to see in order to get them. The fancier the beads, the more you have to do/
show to earn them. I’ll be there with some very special and fancy beads that
everyone will want to get their hands on, so be prepared to earn them. To get
your tickets go to
hillcrestmardigras.com. There are also a limited number of
VIP tickets, which are well worth it when you figure in the savings of the free
food and drinks.
If a little culture is more your speed, I encourage you to check out this next
act. Balboa Theater is proud to present Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte
Carlo. This is an amazing production by a fabulous ballet company. The very
talented cast is all male, but they put on a great female show in this gender
bending production. Obviously it’s my type of ballet, so I’ll definitely be
there. The show starts Thursday, February 18th at 7:30 p.m. And you can get
tickets and info by logging on to
sdbalboa.org.
Enough about that, let’s talk about me some more!
If cupid doesn’t come through for me before Valentine’s Day, then it’s up to
all of you. I’m turning the big 3-O on the 27th, and the best presents are tall,
dark and handsome wearing nothing but a perfectly placed bow. Please fix
me up with a hottie before I get too old to remember what I should do with
one!
I will be celebrating my birthday on Sunday the 28th with a very special
celebration at the Flame. The evening is a benefit for a friend’s sister who
is going to have open heart surgery and, needless to say, those kinds of
procedures don’t come cheap, so I have teamed up with local businesses
and am organizing a fundraiser.
I encourage everyone to go to the event, have an amazing evening and at
the same time, open their hearts and help raise as much money as we can to
help out someone in need. A number of performers around town will put on
a great show to keep you entertained. There will also be some amazing silent
auction items from local businesses, so don’t forget to bring your wallet, and
your rich friends.
Oh, did I mention that there will be hot local bachelors there? Yes, they will
Daisy anD Ruby’s
be there and you can bid on a dinner date for two with one of the bachelors.
So mark your calendar and help me celebrate my birthday by helping a
ADVENTURES
friend.
On that note, I will wrap it up and start looking for those special outfits for
Ruby and myself. Have a great February. I look forward to running into you
at these events.
Love you, mean it…let’s do lunch.
