Rage: What is your favorite part of being a bartender?
David La Rue: Late nights, high tolerance and great money.
Rage: How long have you been bartending?
DLR: In the Midwest we can start pouring drinks at 18. So, if my math is correct,
just shy of eight years.
Rage: What would you say to describe the surroundings of your establishment…the overall
vibe?
DLR: Welcoming. Fun. Unique.
Rage: What is one of your favorite signature drinks and can you tell me why?
DLR: I, unlike most bartenders I have met, I love making martinis. I would rank
my Manhattan near the top.
Rage: Where did you originally grow up?
DLR: I’m originally from Detroit, MI.
Rage: For all of us men, are you single or happily partnered?
DLR: There is a yard and two dogs in my near future.
Rage: A lot of times, people fall for the bartender, what kind of person attracts you?
DLR: Long brown hair, brown eyes…the whole American Apparel model look.
Rage: Some bartenders drink, some don’t…if you do, what is your favorite alcoholic bever-
age of choice?
DLR: Fernet-Branca and Jameson Irish Whiskey.
