Mottingham 
12 year old Alexei Davis has broken
through into the ranks of the country’s
chess playing elite by becoming a
member of the England junior squad.
Alexei, who has been playing since he
was seven, recently swept the board
with a straight six wins at a tournament
on his home turf at Eltham College. The
tournament was organised by the Kent
Junior Chess Association.
He has already represented his country
at a tournament in Amsterdam and
regularly plays tournaments across the
country, last year becoming joint winner
of a national rapid play competition in
Halifax.
His mother, Veronica, said: “He’s not She says her son hasn’t planned out
