GORDON: SPORTS SUCCESS
The Gordon primary school in Grangehill
Road, Eltham, is celebrating a sporting
treble this year.
Its hockey, rugby and swimming teams
have all become Greenwich borough inter-
school champions.
The hockey and rugby teams went on to
represent the borough at cross-London,
with the hockey team only being beaten in
the finals on penalties and the rugby team
reaching the last eight.
PE manager and hockey coach Tuong Van
Kennedy said: “We’ve trained really hard in
after school clubs this year and done really
well. I’d like to thank the sports leaders from
Crown Woods as well who have helped
with the training sessions.”
HENWICK: CULTURE
Henwick primary school has celebrated the official launch of language studies on
their curriculum. An exhibition of artwork by its students recalled the work of the
French masters.
Headteacher Ann Robertson said: “We’ve taught French for a while now but in the
autumn term, all primary schools will have to teach a language. We thought we’d
celebrate what we’ve been doing this term with an exhibition of work.
THOMAS MORE: ANNIVERSARY
St Thomas More primary is celebrating its
80th anniversary this year. A programme
of activities will take place in the autumn
and, over the summer, the school’s
links with Well Hall Pleasaunce are
remembered on the park’s shield garden
alongside Well Hall Road.
Head Peter Finlay said: “Thomas More’s
daughter, Margaret, spent time at the
Pleasaunce so this commemoration is
very exciting.
