LOVE…UNCONVENTIONALLY
Clandestinos
Conspiracies, shower scenes, explosions…It may sound like
just another mindless action flick, but this startlingly fresh TLA
release juggles loyalty, terrorism and the universal need for
approval…and all while delivering one hell of a twist ending
that’s too hot for subtitles.
Xabi (Israel Rodríguez) is a striking, but headstrong young
man who will do almost anything to prove himself to the
man he loves—only he’ll have to make a bold gesture since
he just broke out of a youth correctional facility in Spain and
his lover is the head of a Basque terrorist cell who’s gone into
hiding without telling Xabi. Turning tricks and looting stores
to finance his adopted agenda, Xabi is dead set on reclaiming
the only affection he’s ever been given in his youth. Along the
blind pursuit of his enigmatic beau, however, an ex cop (and
one of Xabi’s jilted former johns) is just as determined to find
Xabi.
Accompanying Xabi on his dangerous path are his straight fellow escapee and right-hand man, Joel
(Hugo Catalán), and a timid but devoted Moroccan immigrant named Driss (Mehroz Arif). Together they
must face a discreet new life, curiously forceful women and an impending police force intent on capturing
the trio of young convicts.
Nicely balanced with naturally-paced male bonds and a dash of smart-aleck humor, Clandestinos is
available now on DVD.
