Sailing in Dorset With over 11,000 miles of coastline to sail around, it’s no wonder Blighty has produced its fair share of yachting medallists. One of our strongest hopes for this year is three-times gold medallist Ben Ainslie. Haven’s Rockley Park is just down the road from Weymouth Bay where the pros will be navigating the waves come the summer. But before you get to Ben’s standard, you need to learn your starboard from your port and your tacking from your fleet race. Rockley Park works with nearby
Rockley Watersports to offer RYA- approved sailing courses, for juniors (8-12), youths (12-16) and adults, as a three or five-day course. A four- night break at

Rockley Park, which overlooks Poole harbour, starts from £104 per unit of accommodation based on a standard two-bedroom, six-person caravan. Three-day sailing courses start from £195; five days from £285. ■

Cycling in London If cycling makes you look like glamorous Beijing Olympic medallist and 2012 hopeful, Victoria Pendleton, then sign me up. Yes, there are countless mountain biking trails across the country for those that
want to head off-road. But with attention focused in the Olympic Park Velodrome, the roads of London should be nice and clear, fingers crossed. First time visitors to the city can get their bearings with a guided cycle-ride taking in the capital’s biggest sites; Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and Westminster Abbey are all included as well as a more tranquil jaunt through London’s parks. If you’re not used to the pace, fear not; there’s a pit-stop at a pub to fill up on shandy and a bite to eat. The tour costs £20pp. ■
