GRANGE GO CLOSE

Grange coach Colin Clarke said: “We

were on the back foot with the clinical finishing of a strong Russian side. But I was very pleased with the way we came back in the second half with around ten penalty corners which shows the pressure we put on the Russians.

KARACHI: Reeling from their last-place finish in the men’s World Cup, the Pakistan Hockey Federation has agreed on the appointment of a foreign coach for the national team. The appointment of a team psychologist has also been given the green light. In his report to the board World Cup coach Shahid Ali Khan said the national team had played important tournaments

“continuously” in the year leading up to the cup. He said the squad succumbed to fatigue and it was also unfortunate that they had not played any matches against European and world ranked teams in the lead up to the New Delhi tournament.
