is one of those words that gets bandied around a lot, particularly during the political feeding season (I promise that is the only election reference in a guaranteed politics-free issue of PUSH). The funny thing about communication though is that, to most people, it means talking. So it was refreshing to talk to, ahem, I mean listen to the newly elected president of England Hockey Simon Mason speaking about his role. Now anyone who knows Simon personally, or who has heard him on TV commentating on the Euro Hockey League or other games, will know he loves to talk about hockey. But, as Simon says, he is equally committed to listening to us, the playing community, and getting our concerns heard at board level – brilliant I say. In his interview on page 22 the former GB goalkeeper also makes the point that he still plays hockey and he sees this as being a huge help in his new role. To jump on Simon’s bandwagon a little, at PUSH we still play too and we reckon that helps us no end! This is my sixth issue as editor which makes it more-or-less a year at the tiller. Looking through this issue, what makes me happiest is seeing how much of the content started life as suggestions from you, the readers. That makes me smile, not just because I have to spend less time thinking up things to write about, but also because it shows we are listening as well as talking. We really do want this to be your hockey magazine, so make sure you keep in touch!
