on to make sure they’re reaching home-based agents.

ith increased time on your
hands and a pressing incen-
tive to sharpen your customer
service, a slow sales climate
can be the perfect time to train.
Homeworking companies offer a variety
of training beyond the recruitment stage but
a self-employed and often widely-dispersed
workforce creates special challenges.
“I think the key to delivering successful
training for a homeworking organisation is
flexibility,” says Sheena Darby, head of
Future Travel. “You have to bear in mind
that when individuals are away from their
desks, potentially they are not earning.”
Online training
Homeworking firms make particularly
good use of web tools, such as TTG’s online
training platform TTG Knowledge College,
which is perfect for distance-learning.
Travel Counsellors recently pulled its
various training resources into a one-stop
online resource called TC Training College.
Through this site agents can register for
courses, educationals, live training and
self-study sessions, keep a personal
development record and watch past editions
of the company’s well-established weekly
TCTV training broadcasts.
