The UAB Department of Medicine and the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center invite applications for the posi-
tion of Director of the Cancer Center Biostatistics and Informatics Unit. This is a tenured or tenure-earning
appointment as Professor or Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine commensurate with the incum-
bent’s level of experience. A secondary appointment in the Department of Biostatistics in the UAB School of
Public Health and some teaching responsibilities may be considered.
The position is responsible for leadership and for setting direction and strategy for biostatistics, data manage-
ment, informatics and clinical information systems for the entire spectrum of cancer research across the UAB
campus. The Unit provides input and support in the use of robust statistical and research design methods, as well
data management, data mining, data integration, and data interpretation across all cancer related disciplines. The
pursuit of methodological research by Unit faculty is strongly encouraged. A doctoral degree in Biostatistics or
a closely related fi eld is required, as is experience of 10-15+ years in clinical and/or methodological research,
