urope's leading online fashion e-tailer Zalando has appointed TGW Logistics to design, install, commission and maintain the materials handling solution at its brand new logistics centre in Lahr, Germany. Zalando’s online shops in 15 European markets attract over 135 million visits per month and serve close to 17.9 million active customers. The TGW solution, valued at several million Euros, comprises a TGW STINGRAY shuttle warehouse, over nine kilometres of energy-efficient conveyor equipment and a picking warehouse, where orders will be prepared for shipping. Markus Augeneder, Managing Director of TGW Systems Integration in Wels says: “Sustainability is key and will be achieved through the use of TGW Commander Controls and an intelligent energy management system. Our post-installation service package will ensure Zalando's new centre runs smoothly and remains up-to-date after commissioning."

he new FSC-1114 fuse blown indicating module, designed to distribute a supply voltage, is a DIN rail mounting module, that has 10 common indicating fuse blown outputs. Each fused channel can handle up to 7.5A, with a maximum of 40A max for the module. In the event of a fuse being blown a relay is energized and the volt free contacts can be used to signal the problem to the SCADA system or raise a local alarm. The Daito blown fuse gives an indication that it is open circuit, individual Channel fuses purchased separately can be 1A, 1.6A, 2A, 3.2A, 5A or 7.5A. The module can be purchased for use with 110Vac or 12, 24, 48, 110 and 120Vdc power distribution The FSC1114 joins a range of other Colter Products SCADA friendly products signaling fuse status. Visit our website to view our power distribution and relay products. The Supervisory system allows maintenance engineers to be quickly informed of the problem and the location when using the FSC1114.

SICK RFU650 Series Delivers Easy, Stand-Alone RFID S
u
www.pcbpiezotronics.co.uk
ICK has launched the RFU650, a long-range read/write RFID device that delivers compact, stand-alone RFID identification and traceability without requiring complex programming or separate external antennae. The RFU650 offers a rugged and affordable device with a typical sensing range of up to five metres that can distinguish accurately between transponder tags on assembly parts, goods or packages, even when they are moving in opposite directions.
For the first time, direction of entry and movement, as well as the position and angle of product assemblies, goods and packages can be reliably detected in an automated factory, goods handling or logistics environment with standards-compliant communication in real time to the factory fieldbus and DCS system. Mark Harris, SICK UK’s Systems & Auto Ident Manager, said: “The performance of conventional RFID systems over long distances is limited by the sender power, aperture angle, tag properties, and application environment. Until now, directions of movement could only be derived by using additional, external antennae and specialist algorithms.
“Position sensing, passage, angles of up to +/- 45° and direction detection are all standard features thanks to the RFU650’s integral advanced algorithms. This avoids the need for additional software and hardware to obtain accurate information on product progress through the plant or warehouse. The software even allows static tagged objects to be filtered out.”
The built-in technology of the RFU650 also makes it easy for integrators or OEMs to link the RFU650 into factory and warehouse networks.
With SICK’s proprietary 4Dpro connectivity, the RFU650
communicates with all common industrial fieldbuses and is compatible with other SICK RFID read/write devices, making it highly flexible as part of an upgraded or enhanced installation for improved tracking and control.

New Mass Flow Controller from Alicat Preforms at High Volumes
A
licat Scientific has engineered a new mass flow controller with its highest top flow rate suitable
to a wider range of applications. The MCRH can accommodate flow rates of up to 5000 slpm, without compromising speed or precision of gas control.
The highly stable controller manages industrial processes with more chaotic upstream fluctuations,
such as control of industrial
combustion gases, or mass flow into food and packaging processes. The MCRH 5000 slpm precisely and rapidly controls mass flow rate, volumetric flow rate, or back pressure of gases in high flow processes. To overcome the poor turndown ratio and slow response of existing methods (such as interlinking a meter with an external valve) Alicat designed a new flow geometry. This new design accommodates the higher flow rates, with a low pressure drop of 14.1 psig at full scale. A dual valve design enables a fast 100 millisecond control response time without significantly raising instrument power requirements.
