CONVEYING SYSTEM BOOSTS FLEXIBILITY AND SUSTAINABILITY
A high-performance intralogistics solution helps tyre manufacturers respond flexibly to individual customer specifications and lot sizes and optimises operating costs. This in turn boosts efficiency and makes the companies more competitive. Interroll, a market leader in the field of intralogistics products and solutions, will showcase smart conveying systems and energy-efficient drive solutions at Tire Technology Expo 2016, including its 24V RollerDrive, a key high-performance product for optimising production flows
conveying systems. The basic purpose of the drive is to allow decentralisation and modularisation of zero-pressure accumulation conveyors. Interroll’s roller drives allow materials
to flow steadily and efficiently, feature low energy consumption and environmental impact, reduce maintenance and cut operating costs. Interroll is one of the world’s leading

performance, especially for sophisticated logistics systems. Roller conveyors can be used to speed up, slow down or accumulate products of various sizes and shapes, allowing these types of systems to operate as ‘rolling warehouses’. For instance, they can be used for tires of different weights and sizes. Interroll’s roller drive, which consists of a brushless 24V AC drive integrated into a conveyor roll, is suitable for various types of

suppliers of intralogistics products and solutions. The company conducts its own research and development, manufactures up to ten million conveyor rolls annually and is an internationally recognised supplier of key products for conveying systems in this industry.
ENERGY SAVINGS Interroll partners with systems integrators and plant engineering and construction companies, offering 24V conveying systems as a flexible solution for optimally automating distribution centers in the tire manufacturing industry. The company’s solutions can generate
energy savings of up to fifty percent. “Given the growing competition and changing production specifications, the
tyre manufacturing industry is particularly well-suited to expanding the use of automation to improve the efficiency, productivity, flexibility and cost-effectiveness of its plants,” says Maurizio Catino, industry Sales Manager at Interroll’s Automotive and Tire division. The tyre industry is an important part
of Interroll’s vertical, global sales organisation. “We understand the needs of tyre manufacturers and can supply innovative conveying and drive solutions that offer significant economic and environmental benefits,” adds Catino. Interroll works with leading systems
integrators around the world and offers both a high-quality product and all of the technical expertise and support required to build tyre manufacturing plants, of which automated conveying systems form a key component. Numerous international tire makers count on Interroll products, which are developed and manufactured at the group’s facilities in Wermelskirchen, Baal and Sinsheim, Germany.

CUTTING EDGE WAREHOUSE LIGHTING UPGRADE FOR HUSQVARNA Previous positive experience with
Outdoor power products specialist, Husqvarna UK, has selected cost- efficient Tamlite HILUX fittings for installation throughout its Newton Aycliffe facility. The ability of Tamlite’s lighting solutions to deliver improvements in energy consumption and overall quality of illumination continue to make them popular choices for large-scale industrial applications. In one of the most recent projects of this kind, Tamlite HILUX fittings were successfully installed in multiple areas of the Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, manufacturing facility operated by outdoor power products company Husqvarna UK – producing the robotic range of mowers as well as the Flymo brand of mowers. The project was the result of a growing realisation that the existing
400W high bay fittings were no longer fit for purpose. “It was time to renew our lighting infrastructure,” acknowledges Joe Storey, who is facilities manager at Husqvarna UK. “We also wanted to take advantage of the ability of newer lighting solutions to reduce our overall consumption of energy. In addition, we were aware that the latest systems have longer lifespans and require less in the way of maintenance – with the obvious benefits for operational costs which that entails.”
the technology, specification and support capabilities of Tamlite meant that Storey wasted no time in eliciting the opinion of the Shropshire-based manufacturer. “They have a great heritage reaching back nearly 50 years, as well as a product range that continues to evolve,” says Storey. “We had also worked with them successfully on a number of earlier projects, so it was a quick decision for us.” The decision to activate occupancy detection at the Newton Aycliffe site
means that the Husqvarna UK team is confident of substantial energy savings over the long-term. These are calculated to be as high as £3,700 per month, with the entire upgrade expected to pay for itself in under three years.
