exhibition preview | Chinaplas 2016 A new version of
the BAOLI strand pelletizer will also be
presented at Chinaplas, the 200 S. The BAOLI is designed for production of high-quality
cylindrical pellets at high output rates – up to 3,000 kg/h for PBT or PET
compounds The pelletizer is available in the
working widths of 100, 200 and 300 mm. Maag will also show the latest Generation 6
Above: The Miniblend from Motan-Color- tonic uses disc dosing technology
of its Extrex extrusion pumps. Compared with the previous generation, the sixth generation models are claimed to offer higher performance and more compact dimensions. Internal return flow has been significantly reduced, leading to considerably higher volumetric efficiency and allowing the gear pumps to achieve up to 50% higher throughput for comparable pump size. Alternatively, the new pump can be operated at lower speeds while achieving the same throughput. This leads to lower temperatures, a longer service life, and an up to 10% reduction in energy consumption. ❙

Chinaplas marks the beginning of a special “World Tour” for Maguire, which will be celebrating the imminent shipping of its 50,000th
gravimetric blender.
As part of the celebration, the company will show a copper-plated version of its smallest blender – a MicroBlender – that it plans to display at numerous shows and events around the world during 2016. “When Maguire President and Chief Designer Steve
Maguire developed the first gravimetric batch blender in 1989, he revolutionised the way raw materials are metered into the plastics processing machine,” says Hubert Nerlich, managing director of Maguire Products Asia. Gravimetric batch blenders sequentially dispense
each batch ingredient in its target proportion into a weigh chamber then, by monitoring each gain in weight of a batch, the blender control makes adjustments to subsequent batches to maintain accuracy and control raw material consumption. The Maguire system holds batch accuracy to within +/- 0.1%. “The Maguire gravimetric batch blender was the first
affordable and easy to operate system for precisely controlling the composition of a raw material blend,”
