healthcare. One zone of particular interest is likely to be the Design X Innovation event, which is sponsored by BASF and will highlight the importance of plastics in industrial design for end-use markets such as automo- tive, lifestyle and furniture. Over the following pages we take a look at some of

the polymers, additives, compounds and equipment that will be on display at the show next month. And if you are going to be at show you can find the Compounding World and AMI team at our booth – W1 T21.

Polymers and additives Adeka will be presenting its full range of polymer additives at the show, including its ADK Stab NA Series nucleators/clarifiers, AO Series antioxidants and processing stabizers, LA Series light stabilizers and FP Series Flame retardants. The company will also show its ADK STAB RUP family of PVC stabilizers. ❙ www.adeka.co.jp/en

Akro-Plastic will be introducing its ICF range of engineer- ing compounds produced with recycled carbon fibres. The new grades are the result of a cooperation with

car maker BMW and contain fibres from carbon fibre fabric trimmings, allowing access to a high performance reinforcement at lower cost, according to Akro-Plastic. The ICF compounds can contain up to 40% carbon

fibre. The products are characterised by low density, high mechanical stiffness, and good thermal conductivity. They can also provide electrical shielding performance. ❙ www.akro-plastic.com

The focus of the Albemarle display will be its recently developed Greencrest polymeric flame retardant, which is billed as a sustainable alternative to HBCD for use in EPS and XPS foams. Greencrest is claimed to provide comparable flame

retardant efficiency to HBCD in PS foam applications. It also provides good thermal stability and is available in both powder and granular forms. The new flame retardant is non-bioaccumulative,

offeres good recyclability, and is said to result in minimal environmental emissions. ❙ www.albemarle.com

Polymer distribution and compounding group Albis will be promoting its newly expanded Chinese colour matching expertise at the show. It will also be highlight- ing other key investments in production capacity and technical capabilities. it has made in China and the wider Asian region. “Our competitive advantage is based on our employees’

knowledge and qualifications,” says Philip Krahn, Chief Officer Far East. “As the world’s largest economic region, Asia offers

a wide variety of markets, each of which has a dynamic all its own. To make sure that we truly understand these markets, so that we can respond to various customer needs and market trends, we rely entirely upon our own competencies—which we continuously develop, and which ultimately represent our key competitive advantage,” he says. ❙ www.albis.com

Colour and additive supplier Americhem will be marking the 10th anniversary of the opening of its Chinese plant at Suzhou at this year’s Chinaplas exhibition. “What started out as an empty lot in the Suzhou

Industrial Park became our first plant in the region and we have since doubled the plant size and capacity,” says Stanley Teoh, Americhem VP and Managing Director for Asia Pacific. “We are proud of our growth in 10 years.” The expansion took place in 2014 and allowed the Suzho plant to take on manufacturing of products from Americhem sister company Infinity LTL Engineered Compounds. Americhem recently announced that the site would be the manufacturing base for the Infinity LTL Surlyn Reflection Series of thermoplastic alloy, which it is introducing to the Asia-Pacific region for the first time. These alloys combine DuPont’s Surlyn ionomer-class resin and a PA 6 and are said to provide chemical resistance, excellent weatherability, and good scratch and mar resistance. Applications are mainly in the power sports, automotive, construction, agriculture, lawn and garden sectors. Infinity LTL Engineered Compounds was created in

December 2014 when Americhem’s Infinity Engineered Compounds subsidiary acquired LTL Color Compounders. ❙ www.americhem.com

The latest additions to the range of specialist liquid antioxidants from BASF Plastic Additives are aimed at improving polymerisation efficiency in PVC and rubber compounds. Irgastab IS3026L is a cost-effective emulsion
