Thursday 17 (Kendal Town Hall) & Friday 18 March (Kendal Leisure Centre) | 7pm | £20 per ticket
Footwear Today’s Financial Plumber, retailer David Gummers of F.Dickinson Footwear, Ulverston, Cumbria, is organising TWO charity concerts featuring a top South African vocal talent aim to raise £30,000 for Cumbria's flood victims.
The events taking place on Thursday March 17 and Friday 18, see Cape
Town singer Lauren-Lee Bock performing at two venues in the town. A graduate of the Cape Music Institute, she has been performing live across her home nation, and made appearances on regional TV.
The concert will also feature an auction of prestigious donations from
local businesses and even Mayor of London Boris Johnson and Prime Minister David Cameron.
David Gummers says: "When I was looking out of my Window in Levens
Village at the damage that Storm Desmond has caused, I knew I had to do something to help - while I am not great with a brush and shovel, I do manage a couple of artists, one of whom would be perfect to do a charity concert like this.
"My aim is to raise over £30,000 and with a little luck, much more than
that. When I spoke to Lauren she immediately said “yes”, and after she had seen the pictures of the floods she said “You know David, I am going to bring smiles back to their faces with my music and some joy back into their shattered lives."
The first concert will take place at Kendal Town Hall, before moving on to the Leisure Centre's Westmorland Hall the following evening.
All the proceeds are going to Cumbria Foundation Flood Fund.
