“It was a much milder December than I wanted, but sales were good overall and my weekend Boots sold well, plenty of Snow Boots left though. But there is still time for those to move. Trade during December was very good especially Ladies Ankle Boot sales , considering most of Norwich were into sale / discount promotions buying business prior to Christmas. Our stocks of high leg boots are somewhat higher than we would like but with the January sales and promise of cold weather then we are hopeful we can reduce stocks to acceptable levels .It is disappointing that the City centre Multiples and Department stores find the need to discount stocks two or three weeks before Christmas which makes it difficult for us Independents. Trading in December was reasonable, just a little down on last year figures, however, margins were better, as last year, we did not “do” black Friday and held off the SALE until after Christmas. Sold plenty of Wellies, and Gore Tex merchandise. Again , ladies looking for long boots with Slimmer fitting legs, looking forward to Moda and other fairs to see what AW16 will offer.
