Favero’s new dental implants can give you back your smile — in a day

I

f you have one or more missing teeth, it’s likely that you’re already aware of the emotional and physical difficulties that can

be caused as a result. As well as the obvious damage to your overall self-confidence and general wellbeing, a missing tooth could seriously affect your overall oral health. You’ll more

than likely feel a little

embarrassed or self-conscious, if you have a very noticeable missing tooth. As time goes on, this feeling can weigh you down, making it increasingly difficult for you to relax and enjoy life to the full. A lot of people oſten find themselves avoiding

having their photograph taken, smiling broadly or even engaging in conversation. A

missing tooth can have a significantly detrimental effect on both your personal and professional life. And while the aesthetic consequences are

obvious, the other effects of a missing tooth aren’t always so apparent. When we have one or more gaps,

our remaining teeth are at

serious risk of movement. Tis is bcasue our teeth are carefully placed so as to hold the others in place. When one of them disappears, those that remain behind can start to twist or driſt apart. Twisted and spaced teeth are at a much

higher risk of tooth decay and gum disease because they’re more difficult to clean. Likewise, it’s easier for food and bacteria to

accumulate in large gaps — and to be missed when we brush our teeth. Eating can also become a real problem with

one or more missing teeth. Even if you work around the issue by chewing on a different side of your mouth, over time you’ll cause wear and damage to your healthy teeth owing to the constant pressure. Plus, the gum area where your tooth is missing can shrink due to a lack of stimulation.

A brand new smile Dental implants are a revolutionary way to replace missing teeth. Te All on Four and All on Six dental implants available at Favero Dental Clinic are made from a combination of resin, ceramic and zirconium. Tey’ll offer you a comfortable, secure and attractive long-term substitute for one or more missing teeth, that’s also incredibly strong and durable. Unlike standard dental implants which can

require bone or sinus graſting, the All on Four and All on Six technique makes use of just four or six implants, respectively, that are uniquely angled to make best use of the existing jawbone. Your brand new restorations — crowns,

bridge or dentures — can be fitted in the same day, allowing you to leave our practice with a brand new smile in just a few hours. It’s a truly life-changing technique.

Skin Matters: Look as good on the outside as you feel on the inside

E

very day, your skin is exposed to a host of damaging external environments — the sun and

detergents are key culprits — as well as all the usual ageing processes. Although you may feel young at heart, the skin you see in the mirror doesn’t always reflect your healthy outlook. Fine

lines, wrinkles, sagging,

pigment change and broken veins can begin to develop, along with skin disorders and rashes. Skin problems aren’t all cosmetic, however. Skin cancer rates in the UK are increasing as we live longer, travel further and enjoy outdoor activities. Most skin cancers and pre-cancerous conditions can be successfully treated and the sooner they’re detected, the more successfully they can be treated. Consultant dermatologists are in

the best position to deal with skin problems and to provide scientifically based treatments for improving the health, quality and appearance of skin.

In the US, patients regularly

visit their consultant dermatologist. Dermatology Consulting, located

in Tunbridge Wells and run by Dr Anne Farrell, is one of only a few specialist clinics in the UK run by

a consultant dermatologist. As well as

dealing with the full range

of medical dermatology issues, including skin cancer and rashes, Dr Farrell also offers a wide range of cosmetic treatments. Recent years have seen a

proliferation of new cosmetic prodecures in the UK, many of which have been introduced with relatively little prior research. Teir results oſten fail to live up to the manufacturers' claims, which leads to disappointed patients. At Dermatology Consulting, Dr

Farrell extensively researches the newest technology and most effective treatments. Among the treatments offered by Dr Farrell are a full range of lasers to deal with redness, thread veins, rosacea, brown spots, pigmentation disorders, scars and wrinkles. Tese include both Fraxel Dual and Fraxel Repair lasers. Fraxel lasers work by only treating a fraction of the skin (15-50%) at each session, resulting in a quicker healing time and fewer side effects than previous laser technology. With modern techniques it is indeed now possible to stay looking as young as you feel.
