25 OCTOBER 2015 THE GOLDEN YEARS 37 Country Life & Sporting Pursuits

Target your dreams E

xciting times are looming for Longthorne Gunmakers of Lancashire. Te company has recently secured a full UK patent

for its innovative barrel technology and is in the process of obtaining further international patents. Te technology ensures reduced felt recoil

and muzzle flip in all its shotguns, which also have an excellent strength:weight ratio. Te company believes that this technology is the way forward for barrel-making. Longthorne manufactures every part of its

guns in-house in England and it has recently purchased a new factory in Northampton. It hopes to move from its current premises in Lancashire as soon as the security installation is finalised. Te move will allow the company much-needed room for expansion and better facilities, where it can concentrate on forthcoming models such as its side- by-side. Finally, aſter having made a donation to the

recent prestigious Abbeystead Charity Shoot auction in aid of Te Soldiers’ Charity, the company was delighted and honoured when the Duke of Westminster secured the winning bid. His Grace, one of the best shots in the country, will be one of the first owners of a Longthorne side-by-side model. Managing director James Longthorne

Stewart said, “It’s a fantastic endorsement for us and we’re very much looking forward to working with His Grace to create something very special. “More

importantly, the day raised a tremendous amount for Te Soldiers’ Charity.”
