TRAVEL
To get your shopping fix, be sure to take a stroll down
the cobble-stoned Strøget, Europe’s longest pedestrian street. On Strøget you will see everything from unique boutiques to some of the world’s most expensive brands. Strøget’s side streets are lined with churches, international stores and, of course, the Copenhagen Jazz House made famous by the likes of Miles Davis and Stan Getz.
Interested in live jazz? Nyhavn, “New Harbor,” is your spot. Home to the Copenhagen Jazz Festival every summer, this is the premier area for seeing world-class Jazz artists while fine dining along one of Copenhagen’s many beautiful canals. Sitting outside at any of the cafés, you are surrounded by classical masterpieces of architecture, a testimony to Denmark’s rich history of Kings and Queens.
Art museums in Copenhagen will satisfy any
visitor. Whether your taste is modern or classical, the Arken, Louisiana, and The National Gallery of Denmark are must-see destinations, and the gallery scene is always alive and thriving. For truly modern art visit the renowned Galerie Asbæk, and to catch up on Europe’s cutting-edge and underground movements visit any of the galleries on Flæsketorvet square in the Vesterbro area.
Copenhagen is said to have the best of both
London and Paris as a European big city, and visitors agree. Best time to visit? Summer!
"As 2014’s European Green Capital, Danes
pride themselves on having electric buses, free bicycles to use, and by 2025 will be the world’s first carbon- neutral capital city."
