reating in a style that has been loosely defined as “Urban Impressionism,” Michael Flohr crafts his art from images he draws from life. Making use of brilliant color in addition to his unique impressionistic technique, Flohr depicts scenes and objects that would typically be considered mundane and brings them to life on his canvas.


Since graduating from the San Francisco Academy of Art University in 2000, Flohr has been met with great success, establishing himself as a master of his craft in the world of art.


“I do not work with models,” Flohr said. “I prefer to sketch 'in the moment' as a scene unfolds, most often with charcoal. Many times these sketches will become works of art in themselves because they capture a different mood.”


Flohr captures this “different mood” with a masterful hand. His paintings seem to buzz with the energy of life in motion. Combining this energy with oil on canvas, Flohr creates snapshots of time that make the viewer feel as though they could walk directly into the world created in his paintings.

In his upcoming show Flohr explores the thrill of the casino with paintings inspired by the bright lights and fast-paced lifestyle that distinguishes Las Vegas from any other major city.
