prehensive suite of online infor- mational publications, and many health and life insurance products. To ensure members make the most of their membership, the MSC regularly emphasizes these mem- ber benefits, focusing each month on specific items that are new or not very well known. For ex- ample, the focus of call promotions and email taglines for August is MOAA’s Lawyer Listing, a network of participating attorneys nation- wide who are willing to offer a 25-percent discount to members of MOAA.

TOTAL NUMBER OF INQUIRIES HANDLED IN MSC HISTORY

1.7 MILLION MSRs gauge a member’s needs

and provide relevant information based on what they can ascertain in a phone call or an email. For example: A member is approach- ing or already has reached age 65, so an MSR will mention MOAA’s publication Aging Into Medicare and TRICARE For Life, just to be sure the member is aware of the resources available to make such a transition easier to understand.

Relaying member feedback

The feedback the MSC receives from members ranges from com- ments regarding MOAA’s legis- lative initiatives to marketing campaigns, publications, and mem- bership demographics. All this information serves to make the or-

ganization more responsive to the interests and needs of members. “Our member service represen-

tatives are on the front lines, and we rely strongly on the insights that they gain from these member interactions,” says Kathy Partain, MOAA director of Membership and Marketing. “These perspec- tives often shape our strategy to deliver more personalized member experiences for each and every one of our 380,000-plus members. This dialogue is essential in ensuring that MOAA remains a strong and growing organization.”

In addition to giving members access to a live, informed indi- vidual on the phone, MSRs often are the face of MOAA, attending outreach and speaking events to educate current and prospective members about the benefits of membership and to answer general questions about the association — all with the intention of better serving MOAA members.
