Roadmaps for entire product portfolio

Altium has announced the public release of roadmaps for its entire product lineup. These roadmaps provide a rare glimpse into years of development plans for the company’s PCB focused design and management tools, including Altium Designer, Altium Vault, PCBWorks, CircuitStudio and CircuitMaker.

“Transparency is a top priority for us, and we’re more excited than ever to share our plans for the future of PCB design,” said Peter Ricci, head of PCB at Altium. “We want everyone to know exactly where the future of their tools reside. It’s our goal to instill a sense of confidence and security so our

customers know that their PCB design tools have a future with Altium.” This move by Altium to reveal the

development plans for its complete product lineup comes at a time of stability in the company’s development, release and technology processes. With rising stock prices, and a solid financial trajectory, the company felt it was necessary to provide a greater sense of transparency for current and prospective customers to fully understand the future goals of their design tools. The roadmaps contain specific development plans for the years ahead, and define planned feature additions and visions for all of the company’s products.

The brightest coders in the Emerald Isle

RS Components is helping to support IT in education and nurture an interest in coding for future engineers with a donation of 50 Raspberry Pi devices for an event to find Ireland’s best and brightest young coders. CoderDojo’s Coolest Projects took place on 13th June, and allowed members of CoderDojo - community-based programming clubs for young people, supported by the CoderDojo Foundation - to show off their skills and the projects they have created - from websites and apps to scratch

projects, HTML and other advanced coding languages. RS has also offered a prize of €250 worth of RS products for use in future projects. The event, now in its fourth year, is open to younger members of society from seven to 17 years of age. Gary Bradley, country manager - Ireland, RS, said, “CoderDojo’s Cool Projects is a fantastic initiative that supports innovation, which is something RS is committed to doing. What these participants can develop with a little help does not fail to amaze me and it is great for RS to be a part of that support.” One of last year’s winners at the Coolest Projects event was Niamh Scanlon, who created an app that pinpointed the map location of all electric car charging points around the country, whether they were currently in use and if so, how long for - all in real time. Niamh has since gone on to develop the app for Android phones.
