The tasks


The 12 semi-finalists started their day away from the public gaze, completing their first set of tasks, which included writing detailed descriptions of four wines against a tick- ing clock, a challenge that involved tracking down a particular wine, and pouring equal- sized glasses of Champagne from a regular bottle of Moët (the hefty magnum came later). The semi-finalists included two from Res- taurant Sat Bains: Laurent Richet and Niels
