Shootout at the Black Diamond Ranch CCA Florida held its

Sixth Annual CCA Golf Challenge at Black Diamond in December. With the Quarry Course being rated in the top 100 golf courses for the last 23 years, CCA members were very eager to play this course if not for the first time, as a repeat tour- nament entrant. For the past six years

Black Diamond has gracious- ly given CCA Florida and its members exclusive access to this otherwise pri- vate course. The pace of the event is

outstanding, leaving each foursome to feel as if they had the course to them- selves. No one is rushed or held up

and the course itself is unbe- lievable. Constructed in an old quarry, the elevation changes are unlike anything else you will see in Florida. This year, golfers enjoyed

refreshments and enjoyed multiple giveaways through- out the morning thanks to Finlandia Vodka. All of the tournament winners won a pair of Costa sunglasses along with other great prizes. If you are interested in partic-

ipating in next year’s CCA Florida Golf Challenge, contact Adam Miller, 941- 270-0895.

New college chapter CCA Georgia leaders have been in

discussion with students, administra- tion and faculty at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro about starting a student chapter. The students, led by Daniel Bell, have formed a leadership team, have applied to be recognized by the University as a campus organi- zation, and have recruited Professor Jamie Roberts from the biology dep art - ment to be their faculty advisor. Planning is well underway for a ban- quet and membership drive for April 2. The Georgia Southern campus is

about 50 miles from the Georgia coast and many of the university's students are not only avid participants in out- door sports, they also support conser- vation of natural resources. The stu- dents are looking forward to being involved with some of CCA Georgia’s hands-on habitat projects. CCA Georgia leaders are very excited about the enthusiasm and profession- alism the student leaders exhibit and look forward to having the chapter as part of the state organization.
