CHAMPIONSHIPS Pre-register for the 2015 Arena Nationals in Iowa T


he 2015 USA Curling Arena National Championships will take place July 16-18 at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.


Te pre-registration deadline is March 13. If your club would like to


bring forth a men’s and/or women’s team to compete in the Arena Cham- pionships, be sure to express your interest and commitment by complet- ing the pre-registration form as soon as possible, but prior to the March 13 deadline. Club presidents can pre-register teams via the link found on the main


event webpage in the championships section of www.usacurl.org. Te event will again feature 32 teams total, including a men’s and a women’s division. Each region is assured of one entry with preference going


to clubs that enter both a men’s and a women’s team. Please note that this season’s rules (See Rules Booklet, Page 23) state that “Each team may have a maximum of two players who also curl at a dedicated ice facility. Stick curl- ers are not eligible to compete. Wheelchair curlers are allowed to compete, but must adhere to wheelchair curling rules.” Please refer to the USACurl- ing website for greater detail of rules and event-related information. Selected teams will be required to complete their online registration


through the USA Curling Sports Signup online registration system before May 1, 2015, at 11:59 p.m. Te registration fee will be $550 per team. A $10 per/individual early registration discount will be given to any team mem- bers that complete their registration prior to April 15. First world mixed championship set for September Curling Bahn Allmend, an eight-sheet curling facility in Berne, Switzer-


land, will host the inaugural World Mixed Championship this fall. Te Swiss capital city will host the event Sept. 12-19. Te winning team


from the 2015 U.S. Mixed National Championship taking place in March in Blaine, Minn., will determine Team USA for the world championship. Te world championship is an open entry event for all World Curling


Federation (WCF) member associations. Member Associations may enter one mixed gender team for this event, consisting of two male and two fe-

male athletes. Mixed Curling is played following the same rules as 'traditional' curl-


ing with the exception that games will be played up to a maximum of eight ends, delivery rotation must alternate between each gender and the skip and vice-skip must be from the opposite gender. Also, no alternate (substitute) athletes are allowed on the team. Tis event replaces the European Mixed Curling Championship, which
