USWCA 5-year & under bonspiels underway across the U.S.

E Tis season the Madison Curling Club hosted


the Wisconsin Regional Five-Year & Under Open Challenge Bonspiel Jan. 16-18 at their six-sheet facility in McFarland, Wis. An unprecedented 40 teams had an exciting weekend of curling, food, and fun. Te weekend draws began on Friday af- ternoon. Tings did not slow down on Saturday. Te kitchen crews and ice maintenance teams worked hard to keep up with all the demands on them and did a fantastic job with so many curl- ers. Because of the large field, the bonspiel had five events. Te USWCA generously donated pins for all five. Congratulations to the First Event winners from the Milwaukee Curling Club – Nick McLellan, Chris Apel, Bob Sorheim, and Greg Bell.


West II: In the West II Region, the newly dedicated


Coyotes Curling Club hosted its first USWCA- sponsored Five & Under Challenge. A continen- tal breakfast was served on Saturday and Sunday with a pot luck dinner on Saturday evening. Tere were raffle prizes, a Halloween costume contest, a

In the East Region, the Norfolk Curling Club


was pleased to be the first club to host the Five- Year & Under Open Challenge on Nov. 14-16. Tis was a four-event bonspiel with 12 teams participating. Te teams were from Ardsley, Bucks County, Cape Cod, Nutmeg, Rutland, and Schenectady Curling Clubs. Te main event was curling, curling, and more curling. Between draws, teams enjoyed watching their friends and new acquaintances compete with many hours of plate-glass skipping, good food and good conver- sation.
