Meet Desiree

B A EXCLUSIVE COLLECTIONS GALLERIES

COLLECTOR PROFILE obet

Her love of Asencio’s work has only grown. An avid traveller and consummate art collector, her trips from Texas to San Diego often involve acquiring new pieces for her collection. While her first love of Recognition will always be special Desiree firmly states, “To be honest, I love them all.”

While the affinity for Asencio’s work is alone a treasure, Desiree also greatly values her relationship with Exclusive Collections and its worth to her as a collector. “It’s always very easy and very nice to work with the [art consultants], learning what’s what, about values, and making sure I insure all my art.”

Our experiences with art are perhaps one of the only parts of our existence that we can describe as timeless. But within that everlasting emotional expanse, the opportunity for a collector to meet a living artist and interact with them personally is always special. Desiree has often travelled to share these moments while seeing what new pieces might capture her love. She enthusiastically reflects about these times with Asencio, “Just getting to meet the artist and getting to know him has been such a thrill.”

rt is evocative and visceral. The passion that drives an artist to create a painting must be heartfelt and the emotions felt by the viewer, or collector, must be undeniably immediate. Perhaps the purest example of this is with Henry Asencio and Desiree Bobet.

First seeing the original Asencio oil on canvas,

Recognition, years ago at Exclusive Collections in San Diego, Desiree had the type of immediate response art collectors hope for. “I remember thinking it was the most beautiful thing, it was like falling in love,” she said.

All serious collectors know to recognize what emotions will ultimately lead them to acquire a new piece of art. Desiree puts this perfectly, “I’m like that with all the art I collect. I know if I like it right away, I fall in love with it.”

Those initial emotions felt from Asencio’s work stayed with her. “With Henry’s piece it was one of those things that I could look at but I thought I’d never be able to obtain,” she recollects. But as art collectors do when they feel this connection, Desiree had to acknowledge and celebrate her discovery. Recognition now hangs above her fireplace as a beacon of passion and beauty.
