Fresh ideas for disease detection


The Cambridge Design Partnership (CDP) has been selected as a semi-finalist of the LIVESTRONG Foundation’s inaugural Big C competition, which is a global innovation challenge aimed at uncovering solutions that change the way the world deals with cancer.


Official UK & Ireland Distributors CDP submitted two cancer detection and treatment ideas.


The fi rst focuses on creating novel optical systems to enable faster and more reliable detection of cancer in biopsy samples. The second focuses on pain management by improving the design of the syringe drivers used to


administer painkillers to reduce the risk of user errors. “Our team

than just exploring the opportunities provided by emerging technologies,” explained Mike Cane, the company’s Founder. CDP has already developed SIAScope, which allows diagnosis of skin cancer without resorting to a biopsy, and the Sanarus Visica cryoablation system, which is undergoing clinical trials for the treatment of breast cancer.
