SECTION NAME 36TH ANNUAL 2014 DIGITAL DIRECTORY DISPLACEMENT
The total displacement of the boats in the show will be approximately 6,631,645 pounds. Using 8.5 pounds per gallon, that comes to about 780,194 gallons of salt water.
If we placed a gallon jug of water on every seat in some of the country’s best-known sports stadiums, the amount of water displaced from the show would be able to fill:
Yankee Stadium Wrigley Field Rose Bowl
CenturyLink Field Michigan Stadium Ohio Stadium Beaver Stadium Neyland Stadium
Kyle Field (after renovations) Total
50,291 41,159 92,542 67,000 109,901 102,329 106,572 106,543 102,500
778,837
The Tropical Reef Habitat is the largest exhibit at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach Calif., and holds
350,000
gallons of water. Combined with the aquarium’s 142,000-gallon Blue Cavern tank and the
211,000-gallon Seal and Sea Lion exhibit, it would still be 77,194 gallons short of matching the amount of water displaced by the Lido Boat Show.
If we stacked 780,194 gallon milk jugs of water displaced at the show one on top of one another, the stack would reach 120 miles high — that’s 633,600 feet, or 596 Eiffel Towers. Stretched end to end, those jugs would almost reach from Dodger Stadium to Petco Park in San Diego (and probably make Southern California’s freeways safer).

It would take the average American 23 years
to use up the gallons of water displaced by the boat show — though we’re sure he would prefer fresh water.

pools. It would take the park approximately 10 minutes to use up the gallons of water displaced by the boats at Lido Boat Show.
