It’s been an exciting year for all of us at Gold Medal, with our new owners – dnata – bringing new and exciting opportunities. One thing that hasn’t changed (and won’t change) is our focus on continuing to improve the product offering and service we can deliver for you, our travel agent partners.
Dubai
With its bustling cities and array of historical landmarks, China is one of the ultimate aspirational travel destinations. China helps travellers tick off countless bucket-list items in one visit – whether it’s walking the Great Wall of China or seeing the giant pandas in Chengdu.
Escorted tours Clients tend to be pretty clued- up on what they want to see and do – it’s rarely a spur-of- the-moment decision – so make sure you can help them access all the information. Escorted tours are ideal for
holidaymakers who want to take in all the sights without worrying about how they’ll travel around. Make sure the itinerary fits the bill and that you recommend a tour that includes destinations your customer wants to visit.
Operators such as On the
Go Tours, Exodus and Journeys of Distinction offer tours that include everything from a trip to see the Terracotta Warriors to visits to Beijing and Shanghai.
Independent travellers China holiday specialist Wendy Wu Tours offers group tours, deluxe versions, private tours and tailor-made options. Group trips aren’t the only option and they’re not for everyone. If your client wants to travel independently, then they will be looking to you to help make their holiday one to remember. Cox & Kings offers private tours and has introduced China in Style by Rail, a 12-day tour exploring the country in the rapidly expanding high-speed rail network.

Independence day We’ve had fantastic feedback following February’s news, when we became part of Dubai-based dnata. This ‘return to independence’ has really struck a chord with you and it’s great to see that the changes we’ve been able to make
are already being felt and more and more agents are returning to book with Gold Medal. Service is so important to us, and we know it’s
important to you. Last month we received our results from the work we have been undertaking with the Institute of Customer Service (ICS). This illustrated that the improvements we have made to our service are indeed as impressive as you’re telling us they are. In fact, our customer satisfaction scoring has moved from 76.7 per cent to 87.2 per cent… an enormous jump (the tourism sector overall sits at 80). These results are the culmination of a lot of hard work including listening to your feedback, and making changes on the back of it.
New dawn... we’re feeling good It’s a new dawn for Gold Medal and we are so excited for what lies ahead, especially with market insight indicating that we can expect to see growth in long haul travel, and the cautious optimism we are
seeing within the economy. We’re more confident than ever that we have the right products, at the right prices to support you as we grow together.
