Badger Alloys Wins Award
Badger Alloys Inc. has received
the Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year Award. T e Milwaukee-based metalcaster was chosen as the grand award winner in the medium size category. Selected by an independent panel of judges representing industry, education, and the public sector from a pool of 34 nominees, the company was commended for its commitment to lean manufacturing practices, environ- mental sustainability, workforce devel- opment and community involvement. T e family-owned ferrous and
nonferrous sand casting company was founded in 1966 and today pours more than 200 alloys, including stainless/high alloy, copper base/nonferrous and carbon/ low alloy steels. Customers include For- tune 500 companies and small businesses in Wisconsin and around the world in the pump and valve, defense/marine, and food and beverage industries.
Bremen Hosts Anniversary Tour Bremen Castings Inc. (BCI), Bre-
men, Ind., celebrated its 75th year in business with a May 13 open house for the public. Visitors were given a tour of BCI’s
gray and ductile iron foundry, on-site health clinic and machining facility. T e fourth-generation metalcaster produces gray and ductile iron castings for a va- riety of markets including agricultural, heavy truck, defense and mining. “It is crucial for everyone to be a team member and an active citizen within our communities, so we strive to
cast each employee into a valuable and responsible individual,” said James (JB) Brown, president of Bremen Castings. “We have a set of core values that we want everyone to have and appreciate.” Founded in 1939, BCI has grown
from its original 800-sq.-ft. building to its current footprint of 125,000 sq. ft. and employs more than 200 people. T e com- pany has won numerous awards for safety, technology and ecofriendly manufactur- ing using 92% recycled ferrous material. In April, BCI achieved 1.5 million hours without a lost-time incident.
