Saville Audio Visual have been awarded Best Light Commercial Audio visual Installation at the Essential Install Awards 2014.
The company submitted the flagship install at the 3M Buckley Innovation Centre in Huddersfield. This pioneering investment in digital technology has helped to create a unique environment for high tech, high growth SME’s to expand and develop, with facilities that are intended for use by all businesses including tenants, non-resident members of the 3M BIC network along with conferences and meetings by external bodies.
The install covered comprehensive and innovative solutions for 6 meeting rooms, video conference suite, a fully immersive boardroom Telepresence environment , research labs and digital signage. Equipment installed included multiple Barco Clickshare units, Christie HD projection, Polycom video conferencing infrastructure and multiple LCD and touchscreen displays.
One of the unique contributions to securing the award was the creative use of digital LED lighting for the building exterior and in the Telepresence suite, where one complete wall is made from a custom translucent structure containing multiple LED lights. Using an amBX controller via an AMX touchpanel, the wall can be lit to any colour required providing theming to clients branding or to provide the correct ambience depending on the type of meeting that the room is being used for. Dan Sait from the Essential Install team explained: “the diverse range of technologies and the way they were integrated in this project perfectly matched the criteria for inventiveness, innovation and style that the judges were looking for.

Where a client wants to create a striking shower enclosure, or perhaps a meeting room pod for a modern office environment, D R Services can supply doors down to a 500mm radius in 8mm toughened glass; measuring up to 2100mm high.
These doors will be top-hung featuring the use of the elegant MWE fittings for which D R Services is the UK distributor. The company has also made a speciality of creating freestanding shower cylinders – often located beneath a ceiling mounted rain head – which is either located on a Kaldewei composite tray or set direct into the floor surface of tiling or mosaics.
Where larger curved sliding doors are to be created, at radii greater than one metre, D R Services switches to the use of its Trojan 120 gear which maintains an attractive aesthetic, while offering a heavier duty construction. These are often to be found linking spaces in shops, offices and restaurants.
Then once the radius rises above 1500mm, specifiers have the further option of employing automatic openers and utilising thicker panes of toughened or laminate glass for feature entrances to corporate headquarters and large hotels. These could measure up to six metres by three metres in height.
