Colour and additive master- batch maker Ampacet has reached a defi nitive agreement to buy Australia-based Allied Color and Additives (ACA). ACA, which is headquar-
tered at Mitcham in Australia, specialises in colour and functional additive master- batches for the Australian and New Zealand markets. The transaction is expected to
close next month. “We are delighted to be
moving forward with bringing the capabilities of Allied Color into our fold,” said Ampacet president and CEO Robert
DeFalco. “Continued expan- sion in the Asia-Pacifi c region has long been part of our growth strategy.”

SGL and BMW invest in carbon fi bre plant
SGL Group has broken ground on a US$200 million expansion of its SGL Automotive Carbon Fibers plant at Moses Lake in Washington state in the USA that will enable it to triple production capacity and make it the world’s largest carbon fi bre plant. The Moses Lake facility – a joint
venture between SGL and BMW - cur- rently operates two production lines
with an annual capacity of around 3,000 tonnes of carbon fi bre. These exclu- sively supply BMW with carbon fi bre for production of its i-Series vehicles. Two additional lines – taking annual
capacity to 6,000 tonnes – are currently under construction at the facility. The company has now broken ground on a fi fth and sixth line.
