Washington Penn to purchase Exxon’s PP compounds assets
USA-based Washington Penn Plastic Company has reached agreement with Exxon Mobil Chemical to buy and license some assets of the latter’s North Ameri- can specialty compounded PP products business. The move follows ExxonMobil’s decision
to cease production of specialty compound- ed PP products in North America. Under the agreement, existing ExxonMobil customers will transition to Washington Penn.

Aimplas drives Naturtruck
Spanish technology institute Aimplas has initiated a new multi-partner project – Natur- truck – that aims to develop a
renewable PLA-based compound suitable for the production of interior cabin parts for trucks that are
currently made in ABS. The 32-month project, which has the support of French chemicals group Total, involves two other technical centres – CTAG in Spain and IWNiRZ in Poland – as well as SMEs Químicas del Vinalopó and Bulma Tecnología of Spain, Bava of Germany, Re8 of Sweden, Polycom of Slovenia and Plascam of Turkey. Volvo’s French division is also participating in the programme. ❙

Emerald acquired
Sun Capital Partners has announced the sale of Emerald Performance Materials to American Securities. Emerald was estab- lished in 2006 as a result of the acquisition of some Lubrizol businesses by Sun Capital. It subsequently acquired CVC, Wolsten- holme’s carbon black dispersion business, and DSM Special Products. ❙

Exhibition spaces are selling fast for the second Compound- ing World Forum which takes place in Philadelphia, PA, USA on 9-10 December 2014. A total of 24 packages have
already been booked this year, six months before the event takes place. The exhibitors include a wide range of compounders, additives
