ATI Acquires Hanard Machine Allegheny Technologies Inc. (NYSE:ATI) has acquired


precision machining company Hanard Machine Inc., Salem, Ore. Hanard machines parts and components made from titanium alloys, nickel-based alloys and superalloys, alu- minum, specialty steel, and other ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Hanard’s major markets are aerospace and defense, and oil and gas/chemical process industry. Te business will operate as ATI Cast Products, Salem Operations, and be a part of ATI’s titanium investment casting business, which is located in Albany, Ore., approximately 40 miles south of the Salem operations. “With this acquisition, ATI is now integrated in the


production of titanium investment castings from titanium sponge to precision machined finished parts.” said Rich Harshman, ATI’s Chairman, President and Chief Execu- tive Officer. “We have identified significant growth op- portunities for ATI’s integrated titanium investment casting business. With this acquisition, we believe ATI is better positioned to achieve our goal to at least double the revenue of ATI Cast Products within the next five years.”


Materion Announces Supply Contract with Lockheed Martin Materion Brush Beryllium & Composites, a Materion Corp.


(NYSE: MTRN) business, announced it has received a supply contract from Lockheed Martin for proprietary AlBeCast aluminum-beryllium investment cast components for the F-35 Lightning II’s Electro-Optical Targeting System (EOTS). Terms were not disclosed. Materion is the current supplier of AlBeMet, an aluminum-


beryllium composite alloy, for EOTS. Aluminum-beryllium materials and castings provide cost/benefit advantages for cus- tomers requiring a combination of ultra-light weight, stiffness, mechanical stability and thermal properties. “We have made a significant investment in advancing our


casting technology, and this contract adds to our growing num- ber of sales orders in the defense and semiconductor markets,” said Lawrence Ryczek, vice president and general manager, Brush Beryllium & Composites. Te AlBeCast casting investment follows the installation and


ongoing ramp-up of the primary beryllium production facility at Materion’s Elmore, Ohio, operation undertaken through a private-public partnership between the company and the U.S. Department of Defense. Tis primary production capability sup- ports the beryllium product lines for defense as well as critical civilian needs. Materion is the world’s only mine-to-mill, fully integrated beryllium producer. Materion Corp., headquartered in Mayfield Heights, Ohio, supplies engineered advanced materials to global markets. Products include precious and non-precious specialty metals, inorganic chemicals and powders, specialty coatings, specialty engineered beryllium alloys, beryllium and beryllium compos- ites, and engineered clad and plated metal systems.
