WHAT IF I’M PREGNANT?
Norwegian Cruise Line will make every effort to accommodate you. However to ensure your medical safety you must complete all travel before the 24th
week
of pregnancy. A medical certificate establishing your due date and fitness to travel is required prior to the cruise. Please be aware that Norwegian Cruise Line will not be liable if you are denied boarding at the port nor will we be responsible or liable for any complications of pregnancy that occur during the cruise.
WHICH VACCINATIONS MIGHT BE NECESSARY?
At the time of printing, no vaccinations were required for any of our destinations, with the exception of a yellow fever vaccination required for those guests planning to participate in an excursion to Machu Picchu/Cusco. Since recommended immunisations and other health precautions often change, we suggest that you contact your physician, the local public health department or the Centre for Disease Control in time before departure.
WHAT IS ONLINE CHECK-IN?
In order to comply with government regulations covering departure manifests, be sure to register online through our website (
www.ncl.eu) after you have paid in full and before you leave on your Norwegian Cruise Line holiday. We strongly recommend guests to complete their Online Check-In at least four days before sailing, as otherwise they may be subject to an extended check-in procedure at the cruise terminal or may even be denied boarding.
WHAT DOES MY CRUISE FARE INCLUDE?
Your cruise fare pays for your accommodation, meals and all entertainment (unless part of a dining production show) aboard the ship as well as all government fees and port taxes. Also included in the cruise fare are coffee, tea, still water and iced tea during meals as well as certain juices during breakfast. The speciality restaurants have à la carte pricing or a cover charge of between $15 and $39,99 per person (charges are subject to change) and à la carte pricing for special menu options (see pages 8/9 or visit
www.ncl.eu).
Alcoholic beverages and soft drinks, spa and beauty treatments, use of the spa facilities and bowling alleys, casino play, shore excursions, certain fitness classes, on-board seminars, dry cleaning and laundry, purchases in our shops on board as well as from Dolce Gelato on Breakaway-Class ships, Carlo‘s Bake Shop cakes and pastries, photographs, ship-to- shore-phone, e-mail, internet, faxes as well as the service charge and gratuities are not included. Service charge can be pre-paid before you travel – see page 98 for more information.
Please note that in order to comply with Spanish and Italian tax regulations we are required to charge Spanish/Italian VAT on applicable retail items purchased on board on cruises from/to Barcelona, Venice and Civitavecchia (Rome), as well as on all other cruises whilst the ship is in Spanish or Italian waters.
Before or on the first and second day of
WWW.NCL.EU
your cruise, you can purchase our Soda, Wine & Beer (Corks & Caps) or Ultimate Beverage Package for unlimited drinks as specified by the package throughout the entire cruise. For further package terms and conditions please contact us.
ON BOARD
WHEN CAN I BOARD THE SHIP? Arrival at the Cruise Terminal: For your comfort and convenience, we recommend that guests do not arrive at the cruise terminal more than one hour prior to the scheduled embarkation time printed on their cruise documents. Due to security regulations, you may not be allowed to enter the cruise terminal before the scheduled embarkation time and may want to avoid waiting in potentially inclement weather as the waiting area outside the cruise terminal may be restricted. Please also note that refreshment facilities at and around the cruise terminal may be limited.
Final Boarding Time: In order to facilitate the embarkation process and the processing of your eDocs, and to comply with government regulations governing departure manifests, all guests are required to complete the Online Check-In at least one day prior to sailing and must complete check-in at the cruise terminal and be on board the ship no later than one hour prior to the departure time noted on their cruise documents or they will not be permitted to sail. Please note that guests who have not filled out their Online Check-In must arrive at the port two hours prior to sailing. Any late arriving guest may join the ship at an approved port of call in the scheduled itinerary. Such guest will be responsible for all applicable fees and travel expenses to that subsequent port of call.
Boarding Time in Ports of Call: In all ports of call, it is also the guest‘s responsibility to be back on board the ship no later than one hour prior to the ship‘s scheduled departure time. Please be aware that shipboard time may differ from the port of call and it is the guest‘s responsibility to follow the shipboard time. In the event a guest misses the ship, it will be the guest‘s responsibility to pay all expenses incurred to rejoin the ship.
WHAT ABOUT CURRENCY AND HOW DO I PAY FOR MY EXTRAS ON BOARD?
The currency used on board our ships is the U.S. $. We’ve made paying for on-board expenses very easy. When you check in you open a shipboard account by registering a major credit card such as VISA®
, MasterCard® or American Express.
If you prefer to pay by cash or traveller’s cheques, you’ll need to place a deposit of $300 per person for a 7-night cruise, $150 per person for cruises up to 6 nights or $450 per person for cruises of 8 nights and more at check-in (subject to change). Then, you simply sign for your personal expenses as you go and they will be charged to your account.
Important: When your credit card is entered to activate your on-board account, an initial approval is obtained from the bank. Please be advised that some banks may hold the pre-authorisation for up to 30 days. Throughout the voyage
incremental holds will be obtained based on your on-board expenditure. This will reduce the amount of available credit on the credit card or restrict the availability of cash in your bank account.
Please note that we cannot accept Eurocheque cards. Personal Cheques or currencies other than the U.S. $ cannot be accepted on board, except on our European cruises where deposits in Euros are accepted. The deposit will be the Euro equivalent of the corresponding U.S. $ amount. Any excess deposit will be refunded at the end of the cruise in U.S. $. Please note that, should you wish to change this excess deposit to Euros, a foreign exchange fee and commission will apply. Those guests who opted for a cash deposit will have to go to the reception on the morning of disembarkation for the final settlement of their bill.
Please also keep in mind that it’s always worth having a small amount of local currency for immediate expenses on arrival at your destination and for any purchases you make at your ports of call. Traveller’s cheques and most major credit cards are accepted in the ports we visit.
WHAT TIME IS DINNER?
Whether it is 17:30 or 22:00, we want you to eat when you’re ready. We have up to 29 dining choices, depending on the ship, no assigned seating and at least one restaurant open 24 hours. So show up whenever the mood strikes. And if dining à la pyjamas in bed is in order, room service is at your service 24/7 (charges apply midnight to 05:00). Reservations are recommended at all speciality restaurants, and can be pre-booked along with Main Dining Rooms before you sail by visiting
www.ncl.eu/prebook.
ARE BABYSITTERS AVAILABLE?
In addition to the complimentary Splash Academy Programme for different age groups (see page 18/19 for details), a group sitting service for children from 3 to 12 is available at a nominal cost from 22:30 to 01:30 each evening. Sorry, but private or in-room babysitting is not available. Please note: Parents with children participating in the Splash Academy Programme and who are not potty trained will be given a beeper and be alerted when the child needs to be changed.
IS THERE A DOCTOR ON BOARD?
A doctor and nurse are on each ship to provide medical care and services at customary charges. Commonly used medications are kept on board and may be prescribed by the ship’s doctor. Please note that the medical facilities are designed to provide basic medical care and guests may have to be evacuated at their own expense in the event of serious illness. Please be aware that there is no dentist on board. Norwegian Cruise Line does not have the equipment on board to assist guests with any type of dialysis treatment. Please ensure you have the right travel insurance cover.
WHAT ABOUT GAMBLING?
There are casinos with table games and slot machines on board all our ships (except Pride of America due to regional law). Guests must be 18 or over to gamble and claim any winnings.
