ACCESSIBLE TRAVEL FOR EVERYONE

Norwegian Cruise Line has always had an inclusive policy for all travellers and we really do believe that our guests with special requirements should have all the services possible to have a great time when they cruise with us. Here are some of the facilities you’ll find on board our ships.

GUESTS WITH LIMITED MOBILITY

We have a number of staterooms per ship that are wheelchair accessible with grab rails in the bathrooms, lower sinks and toilets, shower seats, raised beds, adjustable hanging rods in wardrobes, tilting mirrors and extra wide doors for easy access. Just one thing, if you do use a wheelchair, you must bring your own and it must be collapsible.

Some of our ships also have alarm pull rods in bathrooms and alarm buttons beside the beds and you’ll find accessible toilets in a variety of public areas.

On many ships we have dedicated wheelchair positions in the main theatres and where we don’t, wheelchair seating can be arranged. Our latest ships also have electrical hoists for access to the pools and hot tub. And, if you feel like a flutter, lower gaming tables and slot machines are available in our on-board casinos.

For our younger guests using wheelchairs, we have wheelchair ramps or lifts so that facilities in our Kid’s and Teen’s centres are easily accessible.

Please note Norwegian Cruise Line only accepts certain kinds of wheelchairs on board due to ship safety, please check www.ncl.eu/guests-with-special-requirements for more details.

VISUALLY IMPAIRED GUESTS

Norwegian Cruise Line welcomes all service animals. For example, visually impaired guests who sail with seeing-eye dogs will be provided with a doggie box, which is changed daily by Norwegian Cruise Line personnel. Additionally, a Norwegian Cruise Line crew member will tour the ship with the guest on their first day on board to help them get their bearings. Many Norwegian Cruise Line ships have Braille indicators and audio deck announcements in the lifts, as well as stateroom numbers in Braille.

HEARING IMPAIRED GUESTS

Norwegian Cruise Line has a number of staterooms per ship for hearing impaired guests. These offer closed captioning TV, vibrating alarm clocks and an indicating light system alerting guests to fire alarms, doorbells,

smoke detectors and telephones. Those ships that do not have these designated staterooms provide TDD kits, which contain smoke detectors, door knock alerts, wake- up systems and a telephone alert.

GUESTS WITH DIABETES

Refrigerators suitable for storing insulin are available in all staterooms except Studios.

GUESTS USING OXYGEN Guests who need oxygen or require oxygen therapy are welcome on all Norwegian Cruise Line ships; however, you must supply your own oxygen. U.S.-based Special Needs at Sea is the only company allowed to deliver and supply oxygen to Norwegian Cruise Line ships for use on board or on tours. Let us know at the time of booking that you’ll be bringing oxygen on board, then contact Special Needs at Sea at 001 954 585 0575 to arrange delivery to the ship. Just a couple of points to remember, the largest tank size allowed is D; liquid oxygen is not permitted; and the number of oxygen tanks per guest is limited by applicable laws and regulations.

GUESTS REQUIRING SPECIAL DIETS

If you are on a low calorie diet, breakfast, lunch and dinner menus feature low calorie, haute cuisine dishes. Sugar-free and fat-free desserts are also available. Gluten-free, lactose-free, sodium-free, Kosher and dairy- free diets can also be catered for and must be requested at least two months before your cruise.

Request at time of booking:

Just call our reservations department and request at the time of booking any special requirements you may have. You will be asked to complete a medical & special requests form.
