Germany, has announced it will locate its first U.S. facility in Michigan. Representatives met with Michigan governor Rick Snyder in Germany, who reported to the Associated Press that the service center is expected to begin operations with 15- 20 new hires in Canton Township, in the Detroit Metro area, later this year.
Camfil Air Pollution Control (APC), Jones-
boro, Ark., has expanded its corporate headquarters with the opening of a 13,600-sq.-ft. office facil- ity for sales and administrative staff. Construction of the new office building has freed up additional production space in the Jonesboro manufacturing plant. Camfil APC is a global manufacturer of dust collection equipment. The corporate headquarters expansion is the latest step in a worldwide global development program by Camfil APC. The recent acquisition of Handte, a German manufacturer of dust collectors, mist collectors and wet scrubbers that strategically complement the Farr Gold Series cartridge dust collection line, has nearly doubled the size of the company.
Allegheny Technologies Inc. (ATI), Pittsburgh,
has closed its LaPorte, Ind., iron casting facility after ceasing operations there. According to chairman, presi- dent and CEO Rich Harshman, “After an extensive process, we concluded that we could not complete a sale transaction on commercially acceptable terms. We expect to record approximately $2 million in closure costs, primarily severance, in the second quarter 2014 as a result of this decision.”
Wheelabrator Group, LaGrange, Ga., marked a ma- jor milestone during the first quarter of 2014, reaching 1 million hours without a lost time incident.
