Nine coasters and 1 million+ guests

Although it might not be number one in terms of attendance (trailing significantly behind Europa-Park), Heide Park enjoys a reputation as the largest amusement park in Germany, spanning an area of some 850,000 square metres. Located outside the small town of Soltau, roughly midway between Hamburg and Hannover, it attracted 1.3 million guests in 2013. With the addition of Flug der Dämonen, the park now features nine rollercoasters. Others include the 1.3km- long wooden coaster Colossos (by Intamin), Krake (B&M Dive Machine), Desert Race (Intamin launch coaster), Limit (Vekoma Suspended Looping Coaster), Big Loop (Vekoma custom Corkscrew), Schweizer Bobbahn (Mack Bobsled), Grottenblitz (Mack powered mine train) and Indy Blitz (Zierer family coaster). Other notable attractions include an Intamin drop tower, observation tower and rapids ride, Mack log flume and interactive boat ride, plus several tried and tested attractions from Huss. The pirate-themed Hotel Port Royal and a holiday camp give Heide Park resort status, but there are no “second gate” facilities as yet. The €85 Merlin JahresKarte (year card) grants admission to Heide Park, Legoland Deutschland, Sea Life Abenteuer Park in Oberhausen plus Merlin’s 13 German ‘Midway’ attractions including Sea Life, Legoland Discovery Centre and the Dungeons.
